Story:

Murray, Kentucky (Calloway County) Police Department Wednesday, September 1, 2010, Officer McCuiston activated A Child Is Missing Alert to assist his agency in searching for a missing 16 year old girl. The girl had gone missing from a local high school and was reported to be suffering from mental health disorders. A Child Is Missing placed alert calls with the girl’s description around the school, asking anyone with information to contact Police. Less than an hour after placing the alert calls, Officer McCuiston called again, stating they had received a tip. Someone receiving our alert had seen the girl going door asking for a ride to a nearby town and that their neighbor had given the girl a ride. The neighbor confirmed and gave Police the location he last saw the girl. Additional alert calls were placed to the area surrounding where the girl was dropped off while Police searched that area. Ultimately, the girl was found safe, in Benton, Kentucky, 20 miles from where she had gone missing.

Story:

Kenton County, Kentucky Police Department A 14 year old girl went missing in Park Hills, Kentucky at approximately 3:00pm on September 12, 2009. The Kenton County Police Department responded and began searching for the girl—a search which included activation of the A Child Is Missing Alert Program. The had last been seen in the 500 block of Irishrose Lane and alert calls were placed to the area surrounding that location. As a result of the alert calls, the girl was safely located by Police.

Story:

Murray, Kentucky (Calloway County) Police Department When a nine year old boy went missing from the 500 block of South 8th Street in Murray, Kentucky on the morning of Tuesday, July 28, 2009, the Murray Police Department responded. Part of the agency’s response included contacting A Child Is Missing and activating the Alert Program. After initiating launch of alert calls to the area surrounding the location at which the boy had last been seen, Murray Police requested an expansion of the alert calls. This led to additional alert calls placed to the area and, in all, 20 phone calls from the public with information were received by Murray Police. The information from these calls, led Police to the safe whereabouts of the boy—on Riverwood Road in Murray approximately two miles from where he had last been seen.

Story:

After use of A Child Is Missing, Murray, Kentucky Police Major Clayton Hendricks said the Alert Program is “a very useful tool.” Murray Police Officer Mark Manus had activated the Alert Program on March 31, 2009 when a 14 year old boy, thought to possibly be in need of medical attention, went missing from the 3100 block of Old Salem Road in Murray. Less than 150 alert calls were placed in this sparsely populated area, but they generated two calls from the public with information. That information led to the boy’s safe recovery in a field on Outland School Road just south of Highway 280—approximately three miles from where he had last been seen.

Story:

Two 16 year old boys went missing in Eddyville, Kentucky in separate instances on February 10, 2009. Based on investigative information, Eddyville Police believed the boys had eventually ended up together. When Eddyville Police Sergeant Jaime Green called A Child Is Missing and activated the Alert Program, alert calls were placed to several areas—including the location at which each boy had last been seen and points in between. According to Eddyville Police Chief Shane Allison, the boys returned home because they became aware of the high volume of alert calls that had been placed in search of them.

Found Disabled - Recovered: Friday, August 29, 2008

Story:

When the Murray, Kentucky Police Department called A Child Is Missing on August 29, 2008 and activated the Alert Program to help in the search for a missing 46 year old in need of medical attention, the “missing individual was located within an hour of calls being placed,” Murray Police Captain Osborne said. Approximately 5,000 alert calls were launched in the area surrounding the 300 block of South 16th Street in Murray and that generated 25 calls from citizens. One of those calls came from “a female that received a call [and] remembered seeing the missing person walking in a nearby county,” Captain Osborne said. “The system worked great,” he said, “it brought a quick end to what could have been a very time-consuming and extensive search process.”

Alexandria, KY (Campbell County) Police Department - When two brothers went missing on the afternoon of July 8, 2008 in Alexandria, Kentucky, Chief Mike Ward called A Child Is Missing and enlisted the assistance of the Alert Program. After more than 3,600 alert calls were placed to the area surrounding the 7500 block of Alexandria Pike in Alexandria, “many residents came out as a result of the calls to assist in [the] search,” according to Chief Ward. As a result of that help, and the more than 20 calls to Police resulting from the alert calls, the boys were found safe and reunited with their family.

Missing Elderly - Recovered: Saturday, December 09, 2006

Story:

Erlanger, KY – On Saturday, December 9, 2006 The Erlanger Police Department began the search for an elderly man who had gone missing. Officer Jolly contacted A Child Is Missing with a description of the man and his last known location. Within minutes, approximately fifteen hundred telephones in the community began ringing. One resident, who received one of the calls, contacted the Erlanger Police Department to report that they had seen the missing person about an hour before the phone calls. Officer Jolly stated “He was located in Walton, KY with his brother, where the person that had called stating he had seen the missing person and he was alright.”
